Book Covers

This is the book cover of one of my favorite books of all time, The Giver. If the book is amazing, it should also have an amazing cover so that it can attract more and more people to read it because, like it or not people judge a book by it's cover.  The original cover is a little bland but this one is really eye grabbing and captures the essence of the book. The only issue I have is that the original cover didn't foreshadow a very important event in the book and that sucks because this specific part of the book is one of the most important. Therefore I think it's visually attractive but not necessarily a good choice for the book. Since I have already read the book though I would definitely get this book for the cover.

I have read four out of five of the books above but I like all of their covers. Three of these are not the original covers but they are very visually attractive. For, example the To Kill A Mockingbird has complimentary colors that are not to bright or crazy and that is perfect for the type of book this is. It's not too serious but it's also friendly and inviting. I like the way the words flow throughout the cover it feels complete. For the cover of 1984, the thing that stood out to me the most was the font that was used. It stands out and it's bold, and I think this is due to the fact that it doesn't have any serifs and its blocky. The color scheme also fits in well with the feeling of the book. For Animal Farm,  I like the way the pig is filled with other animals its great design. It's pretty plain but I think it's perfect. Looking for Alaska, has a really small font but the picture behind the font is beautiful and really captures a very important theme throughout the book. It's aligned at the bottom of the cover which makes your eyes go to the picture first. I have never read the book Special Orders, but something about this cover drew me to it. It might be because the cover is realistic and has a perpective or because the title of the cover is inside the little box and its italicized which makes it seem nice and simple.
